Affordability Trend

Months improved year-over-year, last 24 months

Greater Houston
21/24
National (NAR)
15/24

Houston homebuyers have seen affordability improve more consistently than the country as a whole — a trend worth factoring into any buy-vs-wait conversation.

“We're seeing a more balanced market take shape across Houston. For buyers, that means more opportunities and flexibility than they've had in quite some time.”
— Theresa Hill, HAR Chair, Compass RE Texas, LLC – Houston
Bottom Line

Houston buyers have more choice than ever, and affordability keeps improving — Houston has outpaced the national trend, improving in 21 of the last 24 months compared to 15 nationally. For sellers, pricing and presentation matter more in a market with record inventory. For buyers, this window of selection and softer rates is worth taking seriously.
